The Battle of Petersburg was fought in Petersburg, Virginia. It was fought June 15th through the 18th. The major generals included Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant and major General George G. Meade. For the Confederate, the generals included General Robert E. Lee and General P. G. T. Beauregard. Neither the Confederates nor the Union won but had an outcome of 11,386 total casualties of which 8,150 were Union soldiers. The battle was much shorter than the siege which lasted from June 9th to April 3rd. Six days after the siege ended, General Lee surrendered, ending the war. This battle was won of the last battles fought in the Civil War.
